State/Local Fiscal Study Group Appointed
Senate President Mike Miller and House Speaker Mike Busch have appointed an 18-member Joint Legislative Workgroup to Study State, County, and Municipal Fiscal Relationships. They noted that state revenues have plummeted during the past year and that local aid comprises over 40 percent of the state’s general fund budget.
The workgroup will be co-chaired by Senator Ed Kasemeyer and Delegate Adrienne Jones. Chamber staff will closely monitor the activities of the workgroup, which will examine such wide ranging issues as the functions, structure and revenues of local government and state aid programs.
