Senate President Announces Committee Assignments
Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. (D-Dist. 27) last week announced the standing committee assignments for the 2011 legislative session.
The biggest news for the Maryland Chamber is on the Budget and Taxation Committee, where there will be numerous changes. The committee’s makeup has been changed from 15 members to 13 members. Committee members Sen. Rona Kramer (D-Dist. 14) and Sen. Donald Munson (R-Dist. 2) were defeated in their re-election bids, and Sen. Lowell Stoltzfus (R-Dist. 38) retired. Sen. Robert Zirkin (D-Dist. 11) was moved to the Judicial Proceedings Committee. New members of the Committee include Sen. Roger Manno (D-Dist. 19) and Sen. Richard Colburn (R-Dist. 37).
