Senate Committee Approves Amended Semiannual Property Tax Payments Bill
Last month, the House of Delegates passed legislation that would allow all commercial real property owners to pay their property taxes in two installments, effective July 1, 2012. The Senate Budget & Taxation Committee approved an amended version of the bill this week.
As amended, the legislation would allow commercial real property owners with an annual property tax bill of less than $100,000 to pay in semiannual installments. The legislation is on the Senate floor this week. If the Senate passes the amended version of the bill, the House would have to concur with the Senate amendments before the bill goes to the Governor for his signature.
