Healthcare on W-2s in January 2013
Employers that issue more than 250 W-2s in January of 2013 will have to show in Box 12 the cost of coverage under an employer-sponsored group health plan. The cost reflected is to include both employer and employee contributions. The reporting requirement is intended to better inform employees of the total cost of their health insurance. While the requirement is only for informational purposes, affected employers will need to prepare for this new mandate. See the IRS Q&A link for this requirement.
