Federal Health Care Update
Employer groups remain overwhelmingly in opposition to the House (HR 3962) and Senate (HR 3590) health care legislation due to employer mandates and a lack of meaningful cost controls. House and Senate leaders will attempt to reconcile differences between the bills passed by each body in upcoming weeks prior to a final vote on the legislation. The Deloitte Tax Policy Group prepared a good recap (pdf) of the tax implications of the legislation on employers. See an additional comparison chart here.
