Comptroller Franchot to Oppose Combined Reporting in 2010 Session
I attended a luncheon meeting today of the Maryland Association of CPAs at which Comptroller Peter Franchot was the guest speaker. In the course of his remarks he addressed the issue of proposals that would change Maryland’s corporate income tax law to adopt a system of combined reporting. He said that while he philosophically supported combined reporting, there would be a major impact on some corporations and that it would not be appropriate to make the change during the current recession. In response to a question, he stated that he would oppose the adoption of combined reporting during the 2010 session of the General Assembly.
