Maryland Launches Online Voter Registration

Marylanders can now register to vote, check the status of their registration and update their address information online.

“Online voter registration is another tool to make the voting process easier and more accessible,” said Linda H. Lamone, State Administrator. “Marylanders can now register to vote or update their address whenever it’s most convenient for them.”

Previously, paper applications where required and local election officials manually entered the data into the voter registration system. Based on experiences in other states, election officials expect to see improved accuracy in the voter registration list and greater efficiency and reduced costs in processing the registrations.

To use the online system, eligible Maryland residents must have a Maryland-issed driver’s license or an ID card issued by Maryland’s Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). Those without a driver’s license of ID card can use the system to complete and print the registration form, but are required to mail the complete form to their local election official.
